Fitness Update

Happy Monday! I am unfortunately not feeling great (and was actually told to leave my class tonight), but I think I am more run down than sick. However, I am not going to argue with a little extra relaxing time, I definitely need it after this weekend (I am not in college anymore)!

Anyways, I had a great trip over the weekend! Along with a lot of laughing, eating, and drinking I was able to get in a little fitness time and more or less stayed on track with my training. Friday I took the day off, but Saturday I woke up and went for a nice 4.7 mile run with my friend Courtney. Courtney is training for a 10K race the day after my half marathon, so she was all for going on a nice little run (even though we were a little hungover...). Saturday was BEAUTIFUL in DC and perfect running weather: cool and crisp, but the sun was shining. We covered about 4.7 miles on relatively flat terrain. My time was a little slower than normal, but I wanted to stay with Courtney and to be honest I was not in my best "running shape" that morning. Here are my stats according to the Garmin:

Distance: 4.7 miles
Duration: 41:51
Mile 1.2:  10:26
Mile 2: 9:06
Mile 3: 9:05
Mile 4: 8:54
Mile .5: 4:24

On Sunday, Courtney and I decided to go to the apartment gym (we were staying at my friend's apartment in Arlington, Virgina). I was MUCH more tired on Sunday than Saturday, so a little elliptical time was in order. I peddled around for about a 1/2 hour and then did a few weight exercises. Here was my routine:

3x10 bicep curls
3x10 tricep kick backs
3x10 lunges
3x10 chest press
3x10 rows
3x10 squats
3x10 shoulder press
3x10 shoulder raises (not sure if that was what it is called??)

And now we are up to today (Monday). I was supposed to do an 8 mile run, but I had two strikes against me: It was raining off and on and I didn't feel great. So, I decided to go to the gym and just run for an hour on the treadmill. I ended up feeling better as the run progressed and did 7 miles in 1 hour and 1 minute. I varied my time between 6.3-8.0 mph at a 1.0 incline. However, towards the end of the run my knee started to hurt. I went home and iced both knees and they are feeling much better. I think I will only run one more time before the race on Sunday and maybe do a little extra icing.

Once home, Evan and I made another Naan inspired pizza. This time we bought garlic Naan and put mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, pizza sauce, sun dried tomatoes, green pepper and roasted red pepper. YUM!!!!!

I also had a simple salad on the side. I am going to have a little ice cream for dessert, watch Gossip Girl and try and be in bed by 10. I hope to feel better tomorrow because I have an early workout planned. Have a great Monday!!!

  1. Sounds like a really fun trip! Sorry to hear you're feeling a bit under the weather - I am too. I think this nasty weather has something to do with it. Hopefully we'll have some sunny days soon!

    Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Mmmm...Naan pizza is definitely the fastest route to deliciousness.

Make sure to rest up and take care of yourself lady - your training schedule will forgive you!
