Bunting

I hope you had a good Sunday! I had a great day that started out with a 7 mile run around the Charles River. I completed the run in 59:57 with an average pace of 8:34.

A little history on my running career.... I was an avid runner in high school, but then developed Compartment Syndrom in both legs. I had to have surgery to enlarge my compartments in order to continue to run. Years passed and I went to college and prefered drinking and partying to running. Then about 3 years ago I started running again and felt great! I ran a few 5Ks and 10Ks. Last Fall I decided to run my first 1/2 marathon and finished in 1 hour and 43 minutes:

However, I again became injured after the race. I was diagnosed with "runner's knee" and was off           running for another 6 weeks. This year I am going to attempt to run the same 1/2 marathon, but injury free. I have changed my training plan a little (I would welcome any advice to prevent future injuries!) and will eventually run a full marathon.

Later, to refuel after my run I went to Upstairs on the Square for brunch with friends.

Upstairs on the Square is cute little resturant in Harvard Square that looks like a fairy tale inside. It is
Resturant Week in Boston, so my friends and I ordered from the 2-course Resturant Week menu.

For my first course I had Mixed Greens with Golden Raisins and Chevre.

For my second course I had Eggs Benedict. YUM!

Later on in the day I thought I would have another attempt at watching a game. I went over my 93 year old grandfather's house to try and catch part of a game(s). My grandfather is an avid sports
fan and has two TV's set up so he can watch multiple games at once. PERFECT!

At my grandfather's there was both the PGA tour and the Mets vs. Phillies game on. I really wanted to watch the Red Sox game but apparenty I missed that one! I decided to focus in on part of the baseball game. As I watched I started thinking: Why do some players bunt and others do not? When is it a good strategy to bunt the ball? So, I brought this question up to my fellow spectators. They responded that usually pitchers bunt the ball (National League only) because they are not as strong at hitting the ball. Also, some fast players bunt so that they can get on first base. I am not sure if I am totally convinced that those are the reasons for bunting; I think they bunt because the players are tired and do not feel like hitting the ball.....

In other news: Why are NASCAR announcers the worst dressed announcers in sports? Have a great Monday!
