Today was super busy at my internship and I barely had a second to myself. However, the day flew by and before I knew it, it was 3:00. This year is SO much different than last year and instead of being busy with lots and lots of assessment cases, my counseling cases are occupying most of my time. Which is good because I feel really prepared going into next year.
After work, I had a great workout with 15 minutes on the eliptical followed by a 55 minute "Total Body Conditioning" class. Tonight the teacher incorporated a lot more cardio type exercises in the form of kicks and hits. Fun times!!!!
Dinner tonight got a little crazy, we had planned to make pasta, sausage and broccoli with a homemade red sauce we had in the freezer. However, I kinda miscalculated the amount of sauce we had and when going to make dinner realized there was only enough for one. Being the nice girlfriend I am, I let Evan have the pasta. In its place I made a vegetable marsala burger from Trader Joe's and some sweet potato fries (well I tried). I kinda forgot about the fries and they came out a little burnt. (I also poked holes in the steam broccoli bag when it clearly said DO NOT POKE HOLES; and yes, I did read the package a few times-OOPS!).
Oh well, the meal still turned out pretty tasty for a last minute decision.
And for the GREAT news of the day: A good friend texted me tonight and asked me if I liked Sara Bareilles? To which I responded: YES! And she then proceeded to ask me if I wanted to go to her concert in November. YES!!! Her sister got her tickets for her birthday and she wants to take me! I feel SO LUCKY!! Thanks Kristen!!!!
Well I'm out to enjoy a little dessert and watch Modern Family. Have a GREAT night!

No Good, Horriable, Bad Day!!!
Well, I had a pretty bad day! It started with a bit of bad communication last night between a parent, a teacher and I (plus my supervisor) and ended with one thing going wrong after another. Let me tell you a few "bad" things that happened today. Well, in the school I work at there is a student bathroom (that we can use) and a "teacher" bathroom that we can use, but we need a key. I very rarely use the "teacher" bathroom because I don't like grabbing the key, but sometimes I like the privacy and the mirrors are a little better. Anyways, I grabbed the key today to use the bathroom (it is on a key chain with a lot of other keys) and went to open the door; however, the key got stuck in the door and I could not get it out. What makes it worst is the key (I thought) opened the "teacher's" bathroom is also the spare key to my supervisor's office. Why I didn't think this was weird today is beyond me.
So, I went to get the custodian and he was on his lunch break. I went back about 30 minutes later to track him down and he went to check out the problem. Things did not look good.... He took one look and said "Do you still want the key if it does not come out in one piece?" I said give it a try and let me know.
Meanwhile, my supervisor came back from a meeting inquiring about the key because she accidental locked herself out of her office.
Really could this all be happening in one day.......
After explaining the story and watching my supervisor become a little disappointed, I tried to carry on with other work until the "key problem" was fixed. A little while later my supervisor entered the room where I was working and asked me if I would go on a "walk" with her to "talk". Well I was SO nervous I thought "this is it, I am gone." However, it turned out that she just wanted to chat about a few other cases. Once we returned, to my surprise, the key/door was fixed and the custodian returned the key in one piece. THANK YOU!!!!! Anyways the afternoon stress enticed my "bad mood" and I could not wait to leave work!!!
In attempts to cheer myself up, I did my two favorite things: Eat and Worked out!!! I did 15 minutes on the Stair Climber followed by my favorite workout class: Total Body Condition.
Then followed by a yummy meal: Chicken Sausage, Homemade Sweet Potato Fries and Tomato and Basil with a Balsamic Reduction Sauce. Oh and a few grilled zucchini
Hers
His: Pork instead of Chicken Sausage and Yukon Gold instead of Sweet Potatoes
I made the balsamic reduction sauce by boiling the balsamic until think
Note: Do not over boil (I did it on the first try) because it will turn into a thick and stick candy like substance. As for the sweet potato fries I just cut up a sweet potato and sprinkled salt, black pepper, red pepper, sugar, canola oil and cumin on them and baked at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. PERFECTION!!!!
What do you do to cheer yourself up after a bad day?

Rain and Repeat
Hello! It has been one rainy week here in Boston! It is kinda getting to me, I NEED some SUN!!! I hope that tomorrow will be nicer, especially since I am going to do my last run before the half on Sunday. I am getting kinda nervous, but I am trying not to think about it till Sunday. Whatever happens, happens. I have put in all training and work. I just have to see how it goes.....
Positive thinking, positive thinking (I am just going to keep say that)!!
Anyways, this morning I woke up to RAIN (OK I will stop complaining). I had a delicious bowl of vanilla Chobani yogurt with 3/4 of one these guys:
and a banana.
Then it was off to work I went. Today was not real productive (I will blame it on the rain). However, I did manage to eat a yummy lunch. I had a "Cobb" inspired salad with ham, Munster cheese, lettuce, spinach, carrots, cucumber and green pepper. On the side I had a small bag of "Food Should Taste Good" multigrain chips and an apple. I was SO full from this lunch, why is a salad so much more filling than a sandwich with the same ingredients? Hmmm, extra fiber?
Once home I had a quick snack and headed out to my favorite class: Total Body Conditioning. LOVE THIS CLASS!! It was a full hour of pumping iron, I feel very strong for my race!
For dinner Evan and I combined left over beans and ground beef from last Thursday's tacos and the chili from Sunday's dinner and did a Chili repeat with corn bread.
It was just as good the second time around if not better! I used to never like leftovers, now I LOVE them! Maybe because we are getting better at cooking......
Have a great Wednesday! Let's hope for sun tomorrow!!!!
